Those are Tanuki. In japanese folklore, Tanukis are said to have testicles so big they use them as parachutes or drums. Weird, but true.

oh man, this was in that Hayao Miyazaki movie Pom Poko. apparently their testicles can inflate into bouncing beanbags

Holy ****... the Tanuki raccoon is where the Tanooki power-up in Super Mario 3 came from... including the temporary invincible statue power... I wonder if it had big old balls? I can't remember that far back.

I've watched this already. =D and young racoons were sitting on a mat which is actually the old racoon's "golden balls". Cause in the movie racoons can transform themselves into different things like humans or jars and stuff. :p ( sorry english isnt my main language. )
